The Prodigals are Running

The prodigals are running
To open air and sky
Strangled by religion
Oppressed by judging eyes

Hypocrisy is rampant
What we say is not our truth
But we judge the world around us
And everything they do

In fear, the church has faltered
Afraid of differences
Instead of staying open
We come with closed up fists

It’s time to check our motive
Of what we think and say
Is it lining up with Jesus
With His message and His way?

Using only best words
Over us He sings
The Father speaks out purpose
And transforms everything

Souls find affirmation
And blinded eyes gain sight
God confirms identities
Only found in Christ

It’s time for second chances
The church can make it right
Use the words the Father sings
To bring back home His bride

The prodigals are running
Back to home sweet home
Where Father breathes His freedom
And life on these dry bones
